Australia 2012
Day 1: Sydney, continued
We had considered climbing to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (photo 21) for a great view of the city and environs, but felt we could not spare the four hours it would take. When we learned that would cost $200 apiece, it was easy to take an elevator to the top of the Sydney Tower, instead, for an even better view, just as the sun was setting on our first day together. This 360-degree view from the tallest point (1000 feet high) in Sydney certainly helped us to appreciate how convoluted and intricate is the series of bays and inlets that make up this coastal area. It is not the best vantage point for seeing the Opera House (barely visible in photo 20), but we would make up for that later.
